New
CDC Recommendations for Hand Washing
In
Health Care Facilities
The United States Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) recently published its position regarding hand washing
by health care professionals. In collaboration with the Association for
Professionals in Infection Control (APIC), the new publication “recommends
the use of waterless anti-microbial hand cleaners in health care
facilities over the use of soap and water”. The publication
goes on to say, in part, ( waterless products) “can lead to
improved adherence to hand hygiene policies and reduce infection
rates”.
In addition, concern has arisen over the use of
waterless hand sanitizers within the laser environment.
Opti-Scrub NR \
(no-rinse) formula is produced especially for this use as it contains no
aromatics and is non-flammable. Using fragranced, high- alcohol formulas
has been shown to create disruption of the laser energy during use and
may produce a potential fire hazard. For additional information, contact
